She was a designer, singer and performer who broke through the barriers of the music industry. The dual nature of her character as an Mexican American star was both classic and modern. Her work brought Tejano to the mainstream by inventing new ways. Her name was rising to fame but her sudden death broke it. It is also the case with a great, welcoming and promising artist dies too soon, many mourned her talent and potential which she had not yet reached.
