John Denver is a popular artist and musician who has been able to touch many with his songs. Many of these have roots in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. is a New Mexican born musician and singer who fell in love with Colorado. Denver's songs that he sang about his adopted state brought many people to Colorado. G. Brown of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame says the fact that John Denver is unlike any other artist who embodies Colorado. Denver was the Hall of Fame's initial inductee, was honoured by the honor in 2011. Denver is the symbol of Colorado to many all over the world. When I travel, I always meet someone from the other part of the globe, someone from New Zealand and you say "I'm originally from Colorado and the very first thing that comes they say is Oh John Denver! Brown clarified. Denver's debut Top 10 hit as a solo artist after a brief career performing in small folk bands included Take Me Home Country Roads co-written with Bill Danoff. Danoff created the track with Johnny Cash in mind but the moment Denver saw an early rendition it was clear that it was destined to be the next hit single. The song was recorded by the singer within a couple of days when he performed it in front of crowds of enthusiastic fans in Washington D.C.
